Primary & KS3 · Years 3 to 9

Easier to fix now than in Year 11.

Sessions for children who've started to decide maths isn't for them, or who missed something once and never got the chance to go back for it. No tiers, no target grades, no exam in the room — just finding the gap and filling it properly.

What sessions look like

  • We start at the last thing that made sense, however far back that is
  • Number sense before tricks — why it works, not just the steps to copy
  • Short, varied activities, because concentration at nine isn't concentration at sixteen
  • Work that matches what school is doing, so the two pull in the same direction
  • Plain-English feedback to you afterwards, without a report to decode

Topics commonly covered

  • Place value and the four operations
  • Times tables — properly, not by chanting
  • Fractions, decimals and percentages
  • Ratio and proportion
  • First steps in algebra
  • Shape, space and angles
  • Handling data, graphs and averages

Who this suits

Children who've quietly concluded they're not a maths person. Children who've fallen behind after a patchy year and can't see a way back into it. And children who are doing fine on paper but have stopped enjoying any of it.

I work with the students who've decided they're not maths people. Often they decided it very young, and they were wrong.
